The Best Washington, DC Realtors On The Best DC Neighborhoods: Dupont Circle

For a taste of the good life, head to Dupont Circle, one of the D.C. area’s wealthiest (and most beautiful) neighborhoods. Dupont has it all: posh eateries, gorgeous real estate, high-class shopping and the like, not to mention it’s the epicenter of all things Art-Deco.

The internationally lauded Phillips Collection is one of the neighborhood’s biggest attractions, where you’ll find the works of Renoir, Rothko, van Gogh and more.

Smaller galleries, like Primimoda, Marsha Mateyka Gallery, and Gallery 10, are also within walking distance.  Also a must-see: The Corcoran Gallery of Art, which rotates various contemporary art, photography, and decorative art exhibits on a regular basis.

Though parking in the area may be a challenge, (DC Urban Turf estimates a private spot could run you up to $50,000! Yikes!) Dupont is close to several red line connections and boasts one of the most popular stops on the Metro. You may not even need that, though; the neighborhood is just steps from bars like the Science Club, which boasts an extensive wine menu and hosts nightly DJs. You’ll also find endless high-end shopping opportunities at stores like Betsy Fisher and Benetton.
Dupont and fine dining are synonymous.  We recommend Jeffrey Buben’s Vidalia, which offers a taste of the American south with dishes like his famous crab-cakes and shrimp grits. Circa is another of our favorites, with its covered-and-heated patio. You’ll also find more eccentric cuisine in Dupont; one of the area’s newest eateries, Ezmè, specializes in Turkish fare with dishes like manti – or small beef dumplings with yogurt sauce. (Also, be sure to check out this great post DC by Design wrote on Hello Cupcake, a bakery that boasts some of the best sweets in D.C.!)

This cosmopolitan area is best suited for young working professionals. The Washington D.C. Economic Partnership estimates the median household income to be around $70,000, with 35 percent of the population aged between 25 and 34. Dupont Circle is also considered an official D.C. Historic District, so owners of commercial properties in the area may benefit from certain tax credits.

Here’s a prime example of what you might expect to find in Dupont Circle:
